David Rickard is a New Zealand born artist based in London, U.K. He originally studied architecture in Auckland, New Zealand and later fine art Milan and London. Following study in both the fields of art and architecture it has been the boundary between them and investigations into the materiality of our surroundings that underlines his practice. His works investigate phenomena such as gravity, alchemy and chance through sculptures, drawings and installations that involve spatial and physical experimentation. Constantly moving along a fine line between sculpture and performance, art and physics, Rickard’s work engages with the concepts of spatial and objectual perception.
