A roomful of air
2019 lead |
Typically air is perceived as being weightless, something we freely move through which doesn’t weigh down on us or our environment. However, atmospheric air pressure is a measurement of the weight of air. Governed by altitude, humidity and warmth, the weight of air fluctuates slightly, but at sea level is generally around 1.255kg per cubic metre. With careful measurement the weight of air contained within a room is determined and made physical with a solid mass of 1kg lead cubes resting on the floor.
