The title ‘Post Revolution’ at first sight might trigger connotations of political, cultural or perhaps industrial revolutions. Whilst such revolutions may be referenced in the work, it is the physical history of the aluminium contained within the sculpture that provides the first reading. Previously the aluminium that forms the work was a single car wheel which has endured a lifetime in revolution, before being re-cast into a static rectangular block. The format of the cast aluminium references industrialised standardisation and written documents, with the dimensions equal to standard A4 paper and the quantity of aluminium giving the approximate thickness of a ream of paper. |
